If you want to lose weight, your goal shouldn’t be to lose it as fast as possible.
If you want to lose weight, your goal shouldn’t be to lose it as fast as possible. It should be to lose it long term.
Millions of people lose weight each year, 80-90% of them gain it all back within 3-5 years. Thats not long term success, that’s short term results.
Most people lose the weight initially by moving more and eating less. This makes logical sense, but the body is an adaptation machine. So very quickly it adapts to this higher movement, lower caloric intake. Our metabolism intentionally slows. This is great for survival, bad for weight loss.
Eventually, if you follow this strategy until you inevitably give up, you are eating very little and doing hours of cardio each week. News flash, not sustainable.
A better approach is to build up the metabolism by building muscle through strength training. Muscle is more metabolically active meaning it requires more energy to maintain.
Once you have a faster metabolism, somewhere between 2,500-3,500 depending on your size and amount of weight to lose, you cut back calories and start shedding weight. All without ever having to touch a treadmill or bike.
This is sustainable, move more and eat less is not.
